Thanksgiving – Counting Your Blessings Not Your Money!
By Lyndsay King
October is one of my favourite months of the whole year! Fall activities are in full swing, the leaves are turning beautiful colours and Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday. In just a few short days mouth watering meals will be prepared, family and friends will spend time together and who can forget leftovers!
Have you ever totaled up your Thanksgiving numbers? So often we focus on amounts that are important like our budgets, debt amounts and payment plans, but we fail to add up our blessings. Blessings come in all shapes and sizes and not always in the form of a number. Each year at Thanksgiving we go around the table and say what we are thankful for, recounting the Lord's blessings through out the year. It is such a great time to reflect on how the Lord has provided in all areas of our lives. He is always faithful to provide!
This Thanksgiving I challenge to set a side time to really count your blessings. Make a list of everything the Lord has blessed you with (i.e. family, health, a home, food, and most importantly his son Jesus.) Then take that list, and the next time you are doing your budget remember that those blessings are priceless.
