Are you looking for cost effective ideas to keep your family busy this Christmas as well as create family memories? Well you have found them! Here is a list consisting of everything from Christmas money saving tips, to creative ideas you can do with your family over your holidays:




-Shopping for gifts during boxing week for next year (wrapping paper, Christmas decorations, Christmas trees, Christmas cards)

-Birthday party for Jesus

-Playing games

-Carol sing

-Drive around and look at Christmas lights in your neighbourhood

-Read the nativity story

-Buy a gift card, instead of over spending on an item. If you can't find something don’t go crazy, gift cards are amazing

-Bake together (you will get time to spend with each other, great gifts and lets face it cookies are the a highlight at Christmas)

-Adopt a child (give everyone a month)

-Goal setters out there will love to make their own calendar and for each month set up 1 or 2 goals to do that month

-Watch a movie 

-Library have special reading times and presentations

-Something homemade is better than store bought (be creative, gift certificate to do something each month or for actives like car washes, baby sitting)

-Dollar stores are your friend

-Go outside and have family winter games

-Track down every penny that you spend on Christmas, EVER penny and that way you can create an envelope so you can start saving for next year

-Go caroling

-I love Christmas cards, but you can also send e-cards

-Make your own wrapping paper. Go get brown paper from the dollar store and have the kids decorate the paper

-Skype with family members instead of costly phone calls

-A lot of free holiday skating

-Make your own Christmas crackers

-Become a personal shopper for someone

-Create a calendar and write a message for every single day
