Revive Us, Lord!!!
By K R Loos
Listen! It's the voice of someone shouting, "Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!" (Isaiah 40:3 NLT)
We know from 2 Chronicles 7:14 that change, healing, restoration and revival begin with a personal humbling of our spirit, repentance, and reconciliation, as well as earnest prayer and listening to God.
His promise to us is this: "I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
In my personal journey with the Lord, I am finding that the greatest hindrance to my growth is my lack of faith. Throughout biblical history God proves Himself to be all powerful, all knowing, all merciful, and all loving time and time again, yet I am unwilling to believe that He can do the same for me no matter how trivial or substantial my circumstamces. "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith." (1 John 5:4) Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33) and having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I am now His ambassador. By the power of His blood flowing through my veins, and the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through me, I am more than a conqueror over my doubts, over the pressures of this world and over the weapons the enemy tries to form against me. (Romans 8:37/Isaiah 54:17)
Lord, forgive my lack of belief when you call me to do things that don't make sense. Like Noah, Abraham and Ester, you often call us to certain tasks to strengthen our faith and to accomplish larger purposes, that we can't fathom, for your Kingdom. Help us to open our ears that we may hear the direction you are calling us to go. To hear you say: "This is the way. Walk in it." Isaiah 30:21
The Lord has been showing me that if I don't allow Him to completely have His way in my life, He is not able to fully use me as His open vessel to minister to my family, my church, my community, my nation and my world.
I have to believe that God can help me overcome anything! Whether it is overcoming sin, letting go of my past or receiving physical and emotional healing, I need to believe and hold unswervingly to the Truth that He can accomplish ALL things according to His Will. (Matthew 19:26)
His promise to never leave us or forsake us holds true for our nations as well. When the Israelites were carried away and held captive in Babylon, the Lord gave them these words through the prophet Jeremiah: In a word, He said (29:5-6), "Move On!" He encouraged them to build houses and plant gardens and to keep increasing in number. We cannot allow our current moral, political and economic crisis to paralyze us from continuing to live and grow in number for the Kingdom of God! The Pharisee's believed that the Kingdom of God was eminent, but Jesus, knowing their thoughts, corrected them with the Parable of the Minas (Luke 19:11-27). In verse thirteen, the Master gives His ten servants ten minas and instructs them to "…Occupy until I come."
After His Word to the Israelites to "move on", the Lord spoke these words through Jeremiah: "And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace."(Jeremiah 29:7) And of course we all know the well-known verses of hope that follow: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. An you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord and I will bring you back from your captivity." (29:11-14)
We've been praying and studying about how we as Christians can "occupy" until the return of our Lord Jesus. We've been enjoying The American Heritage Series at our church, by David Barton. It has proved to by very informative about our past as a Christian nation, as well as address some of the current issues that are stiffling our voice as Christians. The conclusion we've come to thus far: Continue to pray in the Spirit and seek the Lord with all your heart to know His calling on your life while it is still today. We know His plans for us are good, individually and as a nation. Out of pure love and worship, may we continue to serve Him with great fervor and joy!
